Due to new professional and personal obligations, there will be no more new Japan Talk episodes for the foreseeable future. My sincere thanks to all of you who have been listening to Japan Talk, especially to those who supported us by filling out the listener survey recently, and my apologies to those of you who are disappointed by this decision. Thank you again, and please accept our wises for the very best to all of you.

    Hi Edward,

I myself as I am sure with others out there really enjoyed listening to you with your Japantalk podcast. I'm sorry to see you go and hope you will come back some day. You were and are still the greatest podcast with informative happenings in and about Japan. I wish you continued success in your new professional and personal obligations.

As you quoted: "Thank you again, and please accept our wises for the very best to all of you."

You are most certainly welcome and thank you for giving me and the rest of the listeners out there the Japantalk podcast. You will be missed, once again thank you very much and best regards to you and all of those involved who made the Japantalk podcast possible.

    Edward

Thank you for all the time you invested in this.
I can assure that you will be sorely missed
I am your biggest fan in Mexico.

I hope that at least you can still produce the future interviews you will have with other people in Japan.

Your podcast was great and luckily it did not lose quality.

I will be missing you on Monday Mornings over here.

    Hi Edward,

A little sudden, I understand the work you must put into the podcast.

I've been really enjoying your podcasts since I got my first Ipod earlier this year. I listen mostly to just Japanese ones, but yours is definitely one of my favourites.

Now I feel guilty for now donating anything... If you have that service.

I guess that is the world of podcasting, hard to get a reward for all your work, but there are many out there that have really enjoyed and appreciated your work. I certianly have.

Thanks so much, hope there will be a reversal in the future...

    Best of luck,

    Rob.

have to agree with the last post, sudden.
you will be missed. i will not say you have pod faded, just a "non-foreseeable" pod flicker.
you did a first rate job and for that i thank you.

    Dang! Dang! Dang!

I have been listening to Japan Talk on and off for about a Year, and when I got a mundane temporary data entry job a few weeks ago, it was all that kept me going. I spent the last few weeks going through the entire backlog of episodes, and I was excited when I finally caught up yesterday afternoon. I was looking forward to writing you an email with my questions and comments about the last 119 episodes.
JapanTalk is highest quality podcast I have ever listened too. It has been funny, entertaining, very well produced, the host is very well spoken, and it always just "felt right." I listen to a small host of other podcasts, but often I would skip an episode of another podcast in favor of an old Japan Talk Episode. They were that good. With the exception of perhaps one or two music podcasts I listen to, it is probably the only podcast I have ever heard that is fit for radio play as-is.

I always wanted to ask you questions such as : what ever happened to jindicast? How did you meet Mrs. JP? What was your first job in Japan after you left the military? Just who is this "Mr.Pink" guy anyway?

As sad as I am to see you go, I understand you must do what is best for your own life. Thank you for many hours of a fantastic podcast. It is now, and will likely remain, my favorite podcast of all time.

    -Sean

PS. You said you run two websites? What are they? I know of Japundit, but I do not know of the other. Which one are you dropping? Japundit will not load for me this morning, is it being taken offline?

Hi Edward or JP (as the name i first associate this podcast to),

First of all let me say thank you very much for thinking, making and producing this wonderful podcast which keep lots of people informed on the Japanese daily life.

My name is Juan Pablo (JP as well haha) and im from Argentina, so now you can add another Latin American country where this podcast is/was/will be listened, I first started to listen to Japundit Podcast around episode 10 or so (sorry i cant recall the number very well because after hearing it for the first time i downloaded and listened it from episode one), its not bad as you tell every time another listener tells you that he/she listened the first episodes, i like the way u evolved (sorry i cant come up with another word that describes what im thinking) the way you presented this podcast and all the other inclusions you did in it that keeps informing about the fun, interesting and funny things happening there. I intended to write you an email but various things prevented me to do so every time i was about to start and using an expression of another listener "it went down the pile of things i have to do", and for that i say sorry, so this time i said to myself ill do it.

Since i was a little child i love Japan, its ways and costumes, for the past five years ive been practicing Aikido here and next month ill be taking the Dan exam (which is the black belt), im eager to travel to Japan sometime in the near or not so near future because what better place that the source of the martial art to get better at it haha plus it would be cool to see Japan and visit all its places.

Last but not least let me say good luck in your new professional and personal obligations, may the sun always bright your path and lead you to a better tomorrow, and if by any chance you decide that you will resume making Japan Talk we will be here listening to "Japan Talk #120", of that you must be sure. Also thank you for keeping your word about pod fading, you once said that when the moment you needed a rest from podcasting or the moment you decided that you will stop making this podcast you will post about it and so you did, when you took a rest and now when u need to re organize you on line life to give your real life more time, others will just stopped podcasting.

Sorry, it seems this comment turned out longer that i expected to be, i emailed this to you also so gomen if you read this twice. Theres always things one forgets to say when writing long letters or comments but i think i wrote what i had in mind at this moment, but expect another mail or comment from me if i forget something haha. Its been an awesome 124 emissions of this podcast (including all the extras).

Well best of luck to you and everyone that makes Japan Talk possible, thank you for your best wishes to us and doumo arigatou gozaimasu Edward-San for everything and see you soon.

I'm very sad to learn that you are ending the podcast! I lived in Japan from 1998-2003, but I got married and moved back to the States. Your podcast was one of my last remaining lines of communication back "home." I remember my time there with nothing but fondness, with it's incredibly kind people, as well as a crazy and quirky government, and a culture infinitely different from my own.

Of course, you will be missed, but I wanted to say thank you for all that you have done. Good luck on your other obligations, but keep in mind that there are still those of us ex-expats with long commutes that would love to hear you return someday. Take care!!!

    JP,
Simply shocking. Wow, I guess it became way too much. Too, bad you couldn't just pass the torch. Sad to read this.

You have been part of my life and I thank you for your contribution. I have enjoyed your humor, your stories, and your news. Funny, cause it would be fitting to stop such a good thing. Beautiful things last a short time in Japan. Cherry blossom effect.

Well, I will be in and out of Fukuoka and I may e-mail you so we can meet up. I would like to shake your hand and buy you a drink or cup of Joe.

As a long time resident of Kyoto, I loved finding your delightful podcast in my iTunes each week. As the Western world sleeps in its weekend, your podcast brought warm companionship and comfort into my free moments deep into the night. You are good at what you do, I am a devoted podcast/videocast junkie and know what I speak, your work shined through the masses. Best to you and your family and all you do and I will retain your podcast feed in the hope you will reemerge again from the deluge of personal responsibility and again find time to do your magic.

    Metin2 Yang

. Or you can grind areas that are known to drop rare species and

I just discovered these podcasts, and eventhough they are old and all the news in them are old, I really enjoy listening to them, and have done so the last two-three weeks on my way home from university... I am currently at episode 31 :)...
Sad to hear this has an end, but hey at least I got like 90 more podcasts to listen to :)...
And maybe then this podcast is resurected again by the time when I have finished episode 119 :D
